The Warrior’s Way

Assassin falls for one of his targets and quits the biz (not quite what you’re thinking, though). The story isn’t exactly new, but it’s a good representation of the story line. Decent visuals and nicely stylized environments. The action is simple yet well-executed (ha! see what I did there?), with a hint of Matrix-style slow mo. Satisfying ending. Music was a pleasant mix of Far East and Western.

Verdict: watch it.

Shaolin: Temple of Zen

Joyce and I went to a lecture tonight at the National Geographic Society about the Shaolin Temple. The lecture was presented by Justin Guariglia, a photographer who just released a book entitled Shaolin: Temple of Zen. The book is a photo collage and essay about the temple. Guariglia shared photos from the book as well as other movies and photos he has collected over the years relating to the temple.
